Some years ago, we were so blessed to finally experience the joys of home ownership after so many years of renting, but we had a wanderlust and deep feeling of "something is missing". We traveled halfway around the world and back, only to discover that one of the "missing" elements was the ability to have a homestead on the tiny property that we had originally owned.
Fast forward to RIGHT NOW. We have been searching for well over six months for a home that fit our needs. It needed to have enough bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage, basement, alternative source of heat for emergencies, and ACREAGE.
We knew we wanted to grow fruit and vegetables as well as having the option to consider some animal husbandry of some kind (likely chickens, possibly pigs and goats later on).
We found this great little home on just under six acres. The house itself is tidy, well cared for, and has all of the requirements we were hoping for. The land was even more than we thought we'd find in our price range! These six acres include an existing small apple orchard, two pear trees, a peach tree, blueberry bushes, 2 long garden beds, a utilitarian shed/chicken coop, along with several acres of forest that abuts many, many more acres of forest. All this and with lovely mountain views!
I am not quite sure what I want to do with this page just yet. I guess I'll let it see what it wants to become. We are rather novice at gardening/farming/animal care, so I imagine this page will be filled with slow progress along with the ups and downs of learning how to manage a farmstead.
Thanks for tuning in!
